However the U.S. migration system is strained, and with a massive influx of migrants from Haiti in recent times, partially due to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that occured there this summer and increased political turmoil, the Biden administration has begun the mass deportation of Haitians. Originating in Ukiah, California, the initial founders of Hearthstone Village gained inspiration from Rudolf Steiner, a renowned Austrian thinker and the father of Waldorf education, a teaching rooted in inspiring life-long learning in its students by engaging their head, heart and hands. Passionate to provide such learning to children, Hearthstone had initial ideas of providing a home for children in need to equip them with a safe sanctuary to live and study in.
