The Origins of Hearthstone Village

Hello Readers!

Hopefully you have enjoyed a restful and mirthful holiday. This short blog will be about the beginnings of Hearthstone Village.

Originating in Ukiah, California, the initial founders of Hearthstone Village gained inspiration from Rudolf Steiner, a renowned Austrian thinker and the father of Waldorf education, a teaching rooted in inspiring life-long learning in its students by engaging their head, heart and hands. Passionate to provide such learning to children, Hearthstone had initial ideas of providing a home for children in need to equip them with a safe sanctuary to live and study in. However, without approval and authorization from the government, Hearthstone was unable to settle a base in Ukiah. Turning their attention outwards, the project would evolve into something similar, only hundreds of miles away.

During the Haiti earthquake of 2010, Hearthstone Village members volunteered their time as physician assistants to provide emergency care to wounded civilians. It was around this time when the owners of an orphanage, RMOF, met with the volunteers. Eager to guide and support the children, Hearthstone entered into a friendship with RMOF and assisted in the instruction and  education of the young and bright girls of the orphanage.

Today, Hearthstone Village continues to be a group of women supporting children in a home away from home. Through fundraisers, sponsors, and projects such as Her Dreams Matter, meaningful funds have made their way to the girls’ nutrition, education, and development in Haiti.

Lastly, we would like to promote Her Dreams Matter’s TiedWithLove scrunchie sale! If you are reading this, please take a look at Make a Difference → TiedWithLove Scrunchies. Handmade by our volunteers, all profits will help make a difference in someone’s life.
